Artumas has utilized environmentally friendly water-based mud systems in the Mnazi Bay drilling program. The only additive to the water based mud is a natural Bentonite clay powder. Drilling wastes pass through a de-watering plant to remove excess water, resulting in a much reduced volume of dry waste/cuttings which can be disposed of on land, in the deep sea, or used as road-fill, with little or no negative effects.
