Artumas recognises that employment is one of the key building blocks for social development and believe that our activities contribute positively to direct and indirect employment creation in the countries in which we operate.. In the first phase of the Mtwara Energy Project in Tanzania, Artumas hired approximately 600 employees, over 80% being Tanzanian. Currently, in Phase Two, Artumas has approximately 300 Tanzanian Nationals on staff. As the Project moves from build-out to full operations, Artumas will be providing long-term employment to approximately 200 workers, of which roughly 90% will be Tanzanian.
Artumas’s education programme includes:
- Building a sustainable, reliable and productive supply chain.
- Procuring goods and services locally rather than relying on costly imports.
- Building a sustainable investment climate through transferring business skills and standards.
- Protecting Artumas reputation as a responsible employer by mitigating the destabilizing effects for the local economy of labour migration and of attrition of other local economic activity as a result of its operations in the area.
