Corporate Responsibility

OVERVIEW

Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR)
Artumas sees its ability to attain long term access to energy opportunities as being dependent on successful sustainable development and therefore a critical measure of the company’s progress. We believe that Artumas makes a strong positive social and economic impact by providing enhanced access to electricity. Extending a reliable and affordable energy source to people is part of our core business strategy as well as our corporate social responsibility. Our objective is to ensure that the region and its people realize the benefits of electrification and economic growth. This includes supporting small, medium and micro enterprises (SME) with training and venture funds to accelerate development. Our internal materiality assessment focuses on the opportunities that our technology brings to society.

The success of Artumas is directly tied to the economic and social health of the communities where we do business. We look for opportunities to improve people's lives through partnerships with different stakeholders. By starting an interactive process, our intent is to better understand the social, cultural and environmental issues that are relevant to our operations. Our objective is to build trust, transparency and co-operation with multi-stakeholders, including:

  • the Tanzanian government and government-owned corporations;
  • regional commissioners;
  • NGOs;
  • community-based organizations;
  • bi/multi-lateral institutions;
  • local residents;
  • shareholders; and
  • media.

Within these partnerships, we strive to bring about an approach to development that is focused on providing local people with the tools they need to take advantage of the benefits afforded through the development of the natural resources in their area. Artumas intends to identify partner organizations able to bring key technical expertise and/or funding to the initiative.
